Live transfer and voicemail

Send a hot caller to your cell, and what happens when nobody answers.

Some callers should not be booked for Thursday. They should be talking to you right now.

Live transfer

When a caller meets the criteria you set, the assistant hands the call to a real phone: your cell, your office, or whoever is on duty.

Set the criteria in your script. Be specific about who earns a transfer. "Active leak" or "ready to sign today" is a rule. "Sounds serious" is not.

Screened, not blind

The transfer is announced. You hear who is on the line and why before you take it, so you are not answering cold with no idea who is there.

That matters because a transfer you fumble is worse than a booking. The caller was hot, and you opened with "uh, hello?"

When nobody picks up

The transfer target is a phone, and phones go unanswered.

If nobody takes it, the assistant goes back to the caller and books them instead. The caller does not get dumped into silence, and you do not lose the lead because you were on a roof.

Set what happens on a failed transfer in your automation settings. Falling back to booking is the sane default.

When to use it, and when not to

Use it when the value of a live conversation is high, the window is short, or the caller is ready now. Emergency services, a buyer with cash, someone comparing you against a competitor on the phone right now.

Do not use it when you cannot actually answer. A transfer that fails every time trains the assistant's fallback to do all the work anyway and adds a confusing pause to every call. If you are on a ladder eight hours a day, book them.

Voicemail and no answer

Not every call reaches a person.

Voicemail on an outbound call. The assistant can leave a message. Keep it short: who you are, why you called, what to do next. A forty-second voicemail is deleted at second five.

Nobody answers at all. The lead stays in the pipeline and follow-up picks it up. One unanswered call is not a result.

Both show up in Calls and outcomes as voicemail and no_answer.

Checking it works

Call your own number, meet your own transfer criteria, and see whether your cell rings. Then do it again without answering, and confirm it falls back to booking.

Part of Test before you go live.
